This software is great, it”s now pinned to my Windows 7 Start bar and I use it whenever I need to capture a screen shot and send it to someone, quick and easy to use.
Possible enhancement would be a plugin to twitpic or bitly or similar for shorter links.
GREAT software… but it needs these features before I can use it on a regular basis:
1. At the moment after recording a video you get to choose to upload, view or save to file. I would prefer it it those options were available for the screenshots as well. I prefer to attach screenshots in my emails to customers, rather than send them links.
2. The ability to choose a default settings would also be great.
3. A fourth option that allows you to upload the resulting video file to your own server.
Terrific product. Love that you can skip the whole copy to clipboard first thing. Keep up the good work, and please keep me updated w/ new release information. Thank YOU!
I really want to use this tool but i can”t seem to figure out how to do a screencast. I don”t see any documentation for it either. How do I check settings and what not in windows 7 64bit? I even tried running in compatibility mode, but I can”t find the settings anywhere. I google”d a bit and found one review that said it”s easy to configure just hover over your task tray, but nothing for grabilla appears in my task tray….
Richel thanks for feedback, currently functionality of app is very simple and there is no history management, will think maybe we need to include it in future versions. other then that – our storage is configured automatically to clean all files that are older then 1 month. but it could be we will make it more flexible in the future.
Thank you for your reply. I understand now.
But anyway I am very happy to meet this app for Windows because I was looking for something just like cloudapp on Mac.
I will look forward this app to have management function in the future for the privacy reason.
(I mayI upload the wrong private screenshot,, etc )
How do you enable the video mode? “You must select a check box named Video Mode, then select an area that you wish to record and that”s all.” Where exactly is that? When I execute the program the only feedback i get is the screenshot selection cursor.
This is strange. You should see a small config window at right bottom of a screen.
Try to reinstall the program.
Also please visit Microsoft Update site to ensure that you have all the latest OS updates installed.
I am running 2 monitors. The “config window” was not seen, as it was off the edge of the screen. This may also be why some other people are not finding the config to enable video mode. I was able to toggle the location of the window by hovering over where the window *should* be and holding the [Ctrl] key. It moved the window to the top-right corner.
Hope this helps some who cannot find the config window.
Is there any way for someone to look up all the things you have grabbila”d? Is there a way to track what you have grabbilla”d so far? Am I able to make an account with Grabilla and maintain and delete any things that I have grabbed? Thank you
As you can see, every picture”s name is random, unique and very long.
One can enter some random picture name to check if it”s exist, but the probability to guess one is less than one of billions of billions.
Sorry, you can”t track your grabbed things from software, but you can check your browser”s history for your pictures or just bookmark them.
We have plans about accounts but can”t estimate the time when they will be ready.
Hello, I was wondering how I could fix this issue that happened out of nowhere:
When I use grabilla, it won”t open in a browser but tries to download. I”ve reinstalled all my browsers and haven”t changed anything before that so it just stopped working. Is there any fix for this or can you point me in the direction of a fix 🙂 Thank you!
There could be a lot of reasons why this happens, so I can”t provide a simple solution to your issue. You can check your antivirus.
BUT!
When Grabilla takes a picture and uploads it to server it”s also automatically copy an address of picture to clipboard.
So when your browser don”t launch up after taking a screenshot, you can try to open browser manually and paste to address bar. There should be a link to your picture.
Currently there’s no functionality of screenshot removal. Each screenshot has unique long file name which is very hard to guess.
You can just not share your screenshot with anyone and no one will ever see it.
If you need to remove your screenshot very badly – please email grabilla.screenshot [at] gmail.com with link to your screenshot and your IP address.
We will try to remove it manually.
Reinstalling, because I love the program, but it’s not working like it should. It doesn’t open every time I click the icon, the next battle I do with it is getting it to actually open the web page with the link. I hope reinstalling it will fix it, because I think it’s a great program otherwise.
Unfortunately it doesn’t seemed to have helped. Basically I click the icon, nothing happens, the screen cap window doesn’t pop up, yet it’s using 18,892 K memory according to task manager. When the screen cap window does decide to open, I select the area, and it does not upload it to a page with URL. Sadly, I guess I won’t be using the program for now.
I’m sorry to hear this.
But there’s a nice feature in Grabilla.
It copies the link to screenshot in clipboard before opening web page.
So if your browser do not launch up after taking screenshot, you can try to paste the content of your clipboard in address bar and go to this url. It will open your taken screenshot.
I’m having a lot of issue getting Grabilla to launch in the first place, let alone getting it to actually take the screenshot. I attempted pasting into the address bar of my browser after I thought the screenshot worked, but there was nothing to paste. Unfortunately, this “nice feature” you speak of isn’t working for me, because there’s an issue with the program that uninstalling, and installing a fresh copy did not resolve.
It won’t launch, sometimes i have to go into task manager and kill it.. and then a lot of times it won’t load the photo after I select it.. it doesn’t go into my clipboard either..
I went to grabilla from gyazo after they put in a ton of ads. This is slower than gyazo, but it worked. However, with it not working properly, I may find a new screen grabber. I’m not a big fan of the new webpage its posted in now either.
Windows 7 64bit
(I just did a fresh reinstall on this operating system too, and it’s still having the same issues)
nice tool, but is there also a offline possibility? I dont want to send the captured picture to the internet…Would be a nice feature!
Regards, François
I love this tool! However, I’m running into an issue today that I have not experienced before. After launching Grabilla and capturing an image I am no longer able to see the my default web browser open up with the captured image. Nothing is happening. Has there been a recent change on your end that would cause this to happen?
i like this..but is there anyway it will save the links for me or do i copy paste to notepad or somthing. took af ew screenshots and lost them .. hmm i guess browser history any other suggestions besides that and notepad?
Is there an expiration to grabilla links? I have been unable to access links that I created, even ones that are about a week old. Is there a way to retrieve the contents of these links again?
and there is no expiration to links at this moment, but week ago or so, we had migration to faster server and we could loose some images some images during the process of switch.
Are any means provided for users of grabilla to manage the images/Video they’ve once uploaded and stored on your server :
-edit/modify
-delete
-encode (security)
-restrict access (password)
-set an expiration date
-tag them with time stamps
……and what have you
….or simply just none ….beyond only and exclusevely accessing them ?
Hey! Would you mind if I share your blog with my twitter group?
There’s a lot of folks that I think would really appreciate your content.
Please let me know. Cheers

thanks Andrew! we will do that definitely in next releases.

Good day.
This app definitely should run under Win7x64.
There”s no settings in classical meaning.
You must select a check box named Video Mode, then select an area that you wish to record and that”s all.
Nice App 😉 I tested it.
How will I manage the screenshots I took in the past??
I want to know what I should do if I want to delete one of those.
Richel thanks for feedback, currently functionality of app is very simple and there is no history management, will think maybe we need to include it in future versions. other then that – our storage is configured automatically to clean all files that are older then 1 month. but it could be we will make it more flexible in the future.

If you uploaded wrong screenshot, just not share a link to it.
Having a very long unique picture names it”s very hard to guess it.
OK, thank you 😉
In no way believed that it had been this simple in the end.
Problem with 2 monitors!
Good day.
Thank you for your feedback.
We are aware or this problem and will try to resolve it in next upcoming release.

Definitely needs short documentation (How to) file.
We”ve tried to make Grabilla as simple as possible.
There”s nothing to explain. Just run it, select an area – and you”re done. Please try it.
What about the sound when you recording a video?
Maybe it is my mistake but I tried it and I didn”t get it
Tx
Currently there”s no sound recording at all. We”ll add this feature in next release.
Thanks for feedback.
Stay in touch.
sound is recorded in last versions.

Thank you for the info.
I am able to replicate that program does not work on some combination of Win7 64 bit and multiple monitors.
When I attempt to use on XP (32 bit, single monitor) I continually get the error message:
Unable to Set Input Properties for Media Writer.
I”ve passed this to our developers.
Hope they fix this soon.
grabilla is the best software, i love grabilla 😉
thank you 🙂
You video is MSS2 only? Can I change that? That is one of the few videos that won”t play in VLC. Running XP2
Hello Bonnie, no, we use WME codec and VLC plays it if you have codec in the system.
I follow all the installation instructions, after downloading, but Mozilla Firefox blocks the installation..
Please try another browser.

Hello.
I cannot start video capture – it says can”t start encoding.
I have 64 bit Win7.
Grabilla video recording depends on Windows Media Player. Windows 7 N have no Media Player installed by default.
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=16546 – you may require to install this.
Hi!!!. I need to remove a published screenshot.
¿How can I do that?.
Greetings.

Press and hold Alt while capturing screenshot. It will not send it to internet.

Angela, it works now, we are changing our servers and for few hours it didn’t work.
i like this..but is there anyway it will save the links for me or do i copy paste to notepad or somthing. took af ew screenshots and lost them .. hmm i guess browser history any other suggestions besides that and notepad?
Currently we do not have a history for taken screenshots.
I’ll pass this idea to developer and we will see this feature in next versions.
Right now you can do like you’ve suggested – browser history and text file.
and also please consider the comment below – whole collection of screenshots is also stored in your %localappdata%
http://grabilla.com/0261b-1c96eab0-1988-4c64-b0be-917dd1ecffd3.html – video.
Is there an expiration to grabilla links? I have been unable to access links that I created, even ones that are about a week old. Is there a way to retrieve the contents of these links again?
Thanks,
Angela
Right now all taken screenshots are stored in %localappdata% in grabilla folder.
To access this folder open explorer (press Win+E or click My Computer icon on desktop) and enter %localappdata% like showed on video (you can just copy and paste it there).
http://grabilla.com/0261b-1c96eab0-1988-4c64-b0be-917dd1ecffd3.html – video.
Then locate Grabilla folder, open it and find all your screenshots here.
and there is no expiration to links at this moment, but week ago or so, we had migration to faster server and we could loose some images some images during the process of switch.
Are any means provided for users of grabilla to manage the images/Video they’ve once uploaded and stored on your server :

Thank you for comment. We have plans for all of that for next releases. But at the moment we keep the tool very simple.
and there is delete function now in my grabillas
Good day.
We glad to inform you that you can access all your captures history here: http://grabilla.com/my-grabillas
You can delete grabillas now, and they have a timestamp on capture page.
We are planning to add more features like password protect or encode them in next release.
it does not function with video mode.
error – preparing to encode.
what does it mean.
i have win 7.
Good day.
Please try to install Windows Media Pack from Microsoft site:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=16546
Umm, I’m unable to find the link to embed/share the links to my photos or place them in forums, how can I solve this?
Sorry for delay.
We have added these links back.
Hey! Would you mind if I share your blog with my twitter group?
There’s a lot of folks that I think would really appreciate your content.
Please let me know. Cheers
Sure, feel free to share Grabilla.
